Dear Friends,
You will be pleased to know that a link has now been set up to allow
donations to be contributed online and is supported by a number of networks.
Please donate via http://www.justgiving.com/muzaffarabad and forward this
message onto family, friends and colleagues.
Your much needed donation will go towards Islamic Relief who were appointed
after a meeting of over 50 charities in Islamabad, to provide a variety of
relief initiatives to the most needy on the ground, ranging from temporary
housing for the homeless, to food for Iftar. There are numerous charities you
can donate to, but Islamic Relief is recognised at both local, national, and
international level (including UN affiliation), and our aim is to not just
provide our own financial aid, but hopefully spur the UK government to provide
funds, in a similar fashion to the Tsunami response.
As you may be aware the situation is quite grave in South Asia, the death
toll is expected to climb to 40,000 with many thousands of people injured and
countless homeless. At the very least, please make dua (supplication) for those
affected; for those who will have no food for Iftar (term used to break fast)
tonight; for those who will not go to sleep in their homes tonight; for those
who will not have the comforting hug of their parents; for those who will not
have the joy of standing for salah (daily prayers) tonight; for those whose
sufferings are so severe that they can not be expressed by words.
If you have donated financially and would like to help out in other ways for
example, help via sponsoring a future charity event, donate blankets or via any
other way do let us know.
Outside the UK, then view this thread for further donation options
Please contribute generously
